Q1. What kind of UPS provide lightening protection?

We suggest that you may need to have a surge protection device that is rated as providing primary surge protection for protecting against lightening. Most of low VA rating UPS products including our products are as secondary surge protection devices by UL. Therefore, not only you need to consult with a professional electrician to install a primary surge protection device at the point where utility power enters your building but also you need to consult with a telephone system installer to install primary surge protection device at your telephone lines.

Q2. What should I do if my UPS doesn't work?

It is mainly caused by weak battery. You may leave the UPS charging overnight and see if it works. If it still does not work, you may try to replace UPS batteries. For any question about battery replacement for different models, please contact your local Ablerex agent for technical support.

Q3. Why my UPS only run in battery mode and keeps beeping?

Please check the following possibilities:
1. Please check if the input power cord is firmly connected to UPS and to utility.
2. Please check if the utility power is over or under UPS input voltage range. The UPS might always run in battery mode if the utility voltage is not normal.
3. Please check if the fuse or input circuit breaker on the back of the UPS is blown or tripped. As it might due to overload or power surge, check the load level & utility power after you replace the fuse. If none of the above possibilities is the cause, please contact your local Ablerex agent for help.

Q4. Why my UPS switch off in 2 min. after power failure? (For BP, Switch & MF models only)
Green mode feature can be found on early version of BP, Switch ,MF. When the UPS is connected with very light load devices (I.e. 30 Watt), the green mode will be activated and shut down UPS output power in 2 minutes after power failure to save the battery power. To disable the green mode, you may connect more load to the UPS.

Q5. Why my UPS does not come with UPS software?

For small UPS, software is optional and it depends on your need. For on-line UPS, we bundle UPSilon 2000 software with each unit. The software provides varies monitoring functions as it can monitor and control the UPS and utility status through Ethernet & Internet. It can also automatically broadcast warning messages through e-mail and pager. In addition, the software can save the files, close O/S and shut down unattended computers automatically when black out. We provide various UPS software solutions for most kind of operating system like Windows, Novell NetWare, UNIX & Linux etc. Please contact your local Ablerex agent for more information about UPS software.

Q7. Should I connect my UPS to all kinds of devices?
The MF,MF II, HX , HX II ,e Power series are mainly designed for computer load only. It is not recommended to use with generators, motors, inverters & laser printer. These devices may either generate unstable voltage/frequency or draw big current when operating, which might damage or overload the UPS. Our HERCULES series can be used with more kinds of devices. If you need to connect generators, motors, or inverters devices, Hercules would be a better choice. Please consult with your local Ablerex agent for proper solution.

Q8.Does the UPSilon 2000 software come with my UPS compatible with Windows XP?
Please check the version of the UPS software. You may find the software version on the CD-R or in the UPSilon software.
If the software version number start with CD-331-xx, then it has no problem to work with Windows XP.
If the software version you have is in the list below, then it is also compatible with Windows XP.

If the software you have is neither of the above mentioned, please contact your local Ablerex agent for an upgrade UPS software. If the software version number start with CD-331-xx, then it has no problem to work with Windows XP. If the software version you have is in the list below, then it is also compatible with Windows XP.
